Apologies for the slight delay in getting the final match report of term out, this is due to yours truly being away on tour- check out our instagram (@oultc1880) for highlights and pictures!☀️
The first of our three victories came from M2 who beat Oxford Brookes 10-2. Luke Pitman won his singles in a gruelling 3-setter and caused his opponent to (likely) set a new record for the amount of racket abuse in a BUCS match! M4 convincingly beat Bedfordshire 1s 12-0, with Eric Zhong and Harry McGrath playing up from M5 and only losing two games between them. This victory leaves M4 second in their league, so congratulations to them! W4 also beat Coventry in an away match 8-2, with one match left unfinished due to running out of time.
M1 drew against Warwick 2s away 6-6 and M3 sadly lost against Brookes 2s 2-10. Shoutout to Olivier Witteveen who won his singles match and just lost the doubles with partner Maximilian Klinger. Mark Brooke also played particularly well by pushing his singles opponent to a tight third set tiebreak.
W2 lost in the finals of the Midlands Conference Cup 4-8 against Nottingham Trent 1s. This was their best result against Nottingham Trent who are top of the league and they secured their silver medals for coming in second place, having won 4 previous rounds to get to the final! Credit to Celina Hartmann who got a straight sets singles win against an opponent who had previously beaten her!
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Luke Pitman from M2 for keeping his cool in a tough singles match and helping his team to victory!
