Our 2nd and 3rd women's and men's teams had a magnificent time on their tour to Vale do Lobo, Portugal this March. The trip spanned 4 nights and 5 days, and although the group was welcomed by an unexpected shower of rain, it didn't dampen the excitement or the energy. In pure touring spirit, the first coached training session kicked off on the afternoon of arrival, making sure everyone got straight into tennnis mode from the moment they arrived. With the help of the 5 Star Tennis tour agency, everything ran smoothly from the start and set the tone for a memorable week.
Each morning began with mixed training sessions - plenty of drilling, competitive points, and legendary guidance from our brilliant coaches, Charlie and Rex. Their energy and enthusiasm kept everyone motivated, no matter how big their serves were. After the morning grind, lunch was always a welcome break and a chance to properly refuel, chat, and gather strength for what was usually a full afternoon of free play back on court. One of many highlights of the tour was the mixed doubles tournament that took place on the second-last day where two teams, captained by the two Women's 2s captains, battled against one another in what resulted in a mighty match.
Whenever the sun decided to emerge, players happily strolled down to the beach; and on one of these afternoons after a great morning of tennis, a lively and leisurely frisbee game on the sand took place. A team dinner in the old town of Faro that evening followed. All of this added a whole extra layer of fun to the tour.
Evenings in, after a long day of hitting, were no less enjoyable. Most nights involved games, chatting, and a relaxed atmosphere where everyone could unwind and get to know each other better. A definite highlight here was the group's theatrical skills.
All in all, the tour was a success - from the training to the team bonding to the small adventures along the way. Everyone returned home smoothly and taxed, in the most favourable way.
