Week 6 Match Report - MT 2019

Sadly this week was not our best as our teams struggled against some strong competition to achieve two wins and five losses.

The wins came from our second‘s teams. M2 managed to crush Coventry’s 2’s 6-0 in their cup match this week and W2’s followed suit with a 11-2 win.

It couldn’t have been closer for W3 in their cup match against Birmingham’s 2‘s at home this Wednesday! The evenly matched teams battled hard to bring the score to a nailbiting 6-6 standstill, thanks to singles wins from Venetia and Ella as well as a doubles win from Ellie and Ella. This led to a singles shootout where the tension continued as our girls won one and lost one of their championship tie breaks which led onto a doubles decider match where despite Hatty and Ellie gave a valient effort, saving four match points, it just wasn’t to be and Birmingham took the victory in a day that couldn’t have been closer!

M4 had a rough week, coming up against Birmingham 1’s where they lost 6-0 but congratulations is still in order for this strong team who are in the same division as the 1st team of another university!

W1 sadly lost 4-6 against Kings College London in their home match this week. But credit needs to be given to the dedication shown from the whole team with 6 people playing in the fixture.

M3 were defeated in their home match against Leicester 1’s 8-4. But a special shoutout goes to Bill who showed steely determination in his hefty three set singles as he closed the match with a nailing-bitingly close championship tie break 5-7, 6-4, 11-9.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Goes to Bill for managing to win his marathon of a singles match!
