This was a triumphant week for OUTLC! Securing 4 epic wins, one draw and just a single loss!
Our wins came from W2 who dominated Leicester 1s in their home match in a clean sweep victory of 6-0. Isabelle Atkins and Celina Hartmann held their nerve and gave an impressive performance in their doubles winning the 3rd set tie break 11-9.
In a similar style W3 crushed Oxford Brookes 2‘s in their away game not dropping a single match to also secure the undefeated 6-0 status. M2 beat Birmingham 2s in their away match achieving an impressive 5-1 win. Special shoutout goes to Andrew Grassick who won both of his matches and played such a good point in which he wrong-footed his opponent to the extent that they had to retire! Following the women‘s lead M4 beat Brookes 2s 4-2 in their home match, looks like one Oxford university has dominated this week!
W1 drew 6-6 against Bristol in their home match this week. Special mention goes to Megumi for showing who’s boss on court by taking her 3rd setter tie break in an unequivocal 10-1 finish.
Our loss came from M3 who were sadly defeated in a tough match against Coventry M1s with an overall score of 4-2. David Heathcote gave a strong effort this week just missing out on a very competitive singles and giving a solid doubles performance. A special thanks should also be given to Matei for playing up from M4 and putting up with his opponent retiring during their singles.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK Goes to Jamie for stellar performance in a making a strong comeback going from 1-6 down in the opening set to take the second set 6-3 and go onto win the tie break 10-7.
