Varsity 2019 - M3 Report

Unfortunately this year the men’s third team was harshly defeated by Cambridge; we only won two out of 21 matches.

While the overall score might not suggest so some of the matches were incredibly tight and exciting. However, in the end Cambridge had better players - and more of them. We competed with the bare minimum of six players whereas they fielded a team of eight people. At this point, special thanks go to Dan Farooq who played all matches despite having a tennis elbow injury. Further, congratulations to Thomas Griffiths who was the only person to have won his single match, and Mark Brooke and Daniel Heathcote who were the only doubles pair to have won a doubles match. Finally, thank you Felix for always staying extremely motivated and cheerful throughout the whole weekend even when Cambridge had already won and their were still matches left to play.

Despite this bitter loss we enjoyed a great weekend with much tennis on lovely grass courts and a nice and friendly atmosphere, which was maintained and organised by the Cambridge captain Jay Shann. Thanks!
